The book Jura Wine by British author Wink Lorch is a marvel of modern wine writing. Part history, part travelogue, part friendly guide through one of the most inaccessible wine regions in the world, it was first published in 2014, and it reshaped the way English-speaking wine lovers understand and approach this often overlooked part of France.

Now Wink Lorch has a new project, a kind of extension of the trail she blazed four years ago. The new book is called Wines of the French Alps: Savoie, Bugey and beyond, and it promises to give every bit as much as the first.

Because Wink self-publishes her books (forget the stigma, these are high-quality books), she has to fund them herself on the front end. We’ve just pledged money to her Kickstarter campaign, which has a goal of £20,000 (about $25k). She’s nearly there, a few thousand bucks short, but she needs a bit of an extra push in the final stretch to ensure this book gets the full extent of her amazing, unique talents. Only a few days left. The Kickstarter campaign ends Monday!

If you love wine, and you love reading great writing about wine, food, travel, people, mountain vineyards, traditional techniques — basically, if you like to read — you will love this project.

Click through to visit the campaign and watch Wink’s video introduction, download a sample chapter, and get behind her super cool project.

Woodland Wine Merchant will stock copies once the book ships. But I’d recommend getting behind it now. Wink is a real treasure. More than your future business, we want to see her book succeed!
