Inevitable
Transitions.
I stop and think and try to wink
And wonder who sent her these flowers
Will she take the bait or is it too late
These things are beyond my powers.
Transient thoughts fly past me
Some easy others test my senses
Transitions are changes I embrace
Though often have unexpected consequences.
Resistance to the theme of change
Is an interruption to the stream
Of progression moving down the river
Transformed out of a dream.
An inevitable evolution flows on
A child’s born, we all grow old
The metamorphosis continues
Progress favours the bold.
I walk along the avenue
The street of broken hearts
And wait at the transition station
For a destination of new starts.
Where switches are accepted
And shifts are taken for granted
Where the river flows into the sea
Reaping the crops, I’ve planted.
