The Question That Gravity Asked, by John Levin

If you fear being normal,
the techniques of being invisible
are so easy to learn.

If you fear being a river, just feel the gravity
pulling your water
out of all
those highest
sun touched mountains,

And the sheer slippery
joy
of the whole
forgetting to ask
the meaning
of all the non-effort,
liquid,
bubble loud popping,
non-friction
laughing,
adventure filled thing,

And any timid fishes
who forget to follow

You.

******************

One time a mountain river decided to visit the city. As she wasn’t used to people (and dogs and children,) she was a little overwhelmed at first, but soon a whole crowd had gathered around her, trying to figure out how to say hello. What language do rivers speak? Where are her ears? And, of course, will she even respond?

The river, being keenly aware of all their doubts and anxieties, made a deal with a whitewater rafting company, and gave out free donuts filled with multicolored little sprinkles.

She also placed, right on the shore, an almost unnoticeably moist, mossy green rock stacked with these strange little books, entitled “How To Flow in 12 Million Easy Steps.”
