Introducing Woojo
Woojo was born out of a love of attending live events, meeting new people and the realization that others want to meet new people too, though many are often hesitant to make the first move. We saw an opportunity to create a platform to facilitate real life connections. We’re determined to change the way people meet, both on and offline; to make sure you never miss another connection. We want to make people’s lives easier by including these introductions into their existing plans. We built Woojo to help you to see who else is going to be at the events you’re already planning to attend, so you never miss out on an encounter that could potentially change your life.
People attend events every day. Whether social, professional, athletic, or cultural gatherings, we all have a life outside of home and the office. Why not help people find out who they should be meeting when they get there?
Even the most outgoing among us miss out on connecting with people all the time. The person they want to talk to could be busy or unreachable for some reason. Or they might not even know who the right person to be talking to is.
Your next best friend, big client, new employer, or the love of your life could be standing right across from you and you may never know it!
I met my cofounder while I was DJing at a nightclub. I now know it was out of character for him to come talk to me, but with the context of mutual appreciation of the music, he took the initiative to start a conversation. We talked about music, clubs, festivals and eventually startups. Out of his technical expertise and my background in events and marketing, a partnership was born!
With Woojo, users have the context that they will both attend the same event to start talking to each other. Once they have matched in the app, they can chat there and decide to meet at the event.
Time is the most precious resource we have. We want to help people make the most of their time, by helping them to meet the best people at the events they’re already planning to attend. There are so many apps and sites to meet people romantically, professionally or for a specific interest, but they all require a process of getting acquainted virtually and (maybe) setting some easily changeable future date to meet.
Our lives are not so compartmentalized where we must divide ourselves into professional person, social person, athlete, romantic, gourmand, traveler or any other hat we choose to wear. We can be all these things at once. As people with many interests, DJ/ College Professor & Airline Pilot/ Developer both turned Entrepreneur, we at Woojo understand that better than most.
Woojo knows your interests can sometimes overlap and works with your schedule of events to introduce you to the right people at the right place and time.

Moved to a new city and want to meet people with the same interests? With Woojo, you can easily identify the events you want to go to, then match and chat with other people going ahead of time, so you never have to go to an event alone!
We want our users to be the heroes of their own story. Woojo is part friend, part mentor, part wingman, and party host. (Think Yoda meets the Great Gatsby) Woojo is your friend that knows everyone at the event and is happy to make the introduction, but what happens next is entirely up to you.
