After writing on 𝕏 for a year and Medium for a month, I’ve learned many harsh writing truths (the hard way.)

Here are the top 3 harshest and ugliest truths.

Once you know and accept them, you will feel liberated.

1. Most things flop

Most things you put out will flop, especially at the start.

You’re learning how the platform works, which formats do well, and a million other things.

It’s normal to suck at first.

Don’t be attached to anything you write. Instead, see them as steps that leads you to become a better writer.

Use the 80/20 rule here:

20% of your posts will drive 80% of your results. If you put out 100 articles, you’ll get 20 winners.

Accept that 80 is part of the process to find the 20 winners.

2. Your free content isn’t free
