I have never written an article responding to a prompt, but when Mary Gallagher tagged me in her bookworm challenge, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. Here are my answers to 10 questions about books compiled by Elizabeth Clark to celebrate World Book Day on April 23rd.

1. What’s one of the first books you remember really loving as a child?

My earliest memories of books I loved weren’t as a child but as a teenager, and my favorites were the Nancy Drew Mysteries. I also read some of the Hardy Boys series. So, I was into mystery-adventure books back then — which fit my personality as an adventurous farm girl.

2. Do you have any special memories of someone reading to you as a child?

Yes! My Grandmother often read to me from a large family Bible she and my grandfather kept on their coffee table in the living room. The photo below is her reading to my brother and me sometime in 1960.
