There’s nothing quite like Crocus flowers as they welcome the arrival of spring with their vibrant and enchanting beauty. It’s always such a delight to see (at least for me) the first Crocus flower bulb blooming yearly, many times through the snow.

Types of Crocus Flowers

Each crocus species has some differences between them. Popular varieties include:

Crocus chrysanthus: This is one of the first crocuses to bloom. Its bright yellow blooms are frequently spotted with purple or white.

Crocus vernus: this is a Dutch crocus that grows in purple, white, and striped variations. It blooms later than Crocus chrysanthus, but has larger flowers.
