How to Submit a Draft Article to a Publication

Friendly reminder, or some advice for new members

There are many publications on Medium, and many of them are different in so many ways, but also alike too. One key rule that the majority of publications follow is that your articles must be submitted to them in draft format.

If you fail to follow this rule, the publication won’t accept your work. This can be frustrating, but luckily, it’s simple to know if this is the reason your article is being rejected, and it’s simple to fix.

So, first of all, how do you know if a publication has a draft format only rule?

Click on the homepage of your publication of choice, then navigate to where they have a ‘write for us’ section, as seen below.

See how there are several options to choose from, you want to click ‘write for us’, or sometimes they will have it pinned, and you will see it as an article. My publication, Word Garden, has both to avoid confusion and help with clarity.
