I Took a Money-Style Quiz, and it Told Me I’m a Hoarder
Shocker, now what do I do?
Have you ever taken a money-style quiz to determine what your relationship with money is all about?
I recently took this quiz, and it confirmed what I already knew about my money mindset.
I inherited my money mindset from my parents—most of us do. My parents were raised during the Depression. My mom could win an Olympic event for saving and reusing. She saved the pickle jars—just in case she needed to store something. She kept the twisties from the bread bags—and she rinsed and saved the bread bags, too.
It pains me to throw things like that away, knowing they are going to a landfill, but her motivation was not ecological conservation; her saving and hoarding were rooted in the mindset of scarcity.
My mom was definitely a hoarder, and had we not moved her out of her home and into my in-law suite, she would have continued to fill up every corner of her house.
My father was a hard worker but also a spender — a compulsive gambler who threw his hard-earned money after bad bets.
