The Big Thought in this Little Post: The fastest way to curb cravings is to eat nutrient-dense food.

If you regularly experience cravings, I’m here to give you what might be good news: you can kick those cravings to the curb by eating nutrient-dense food.

For some of you, this might also be the bad news.

If you’re someone like me who’s struggled with binge-eating, or are someone who’s just plain sick of dieting, literally the last thing you want is someone telling you what to eat.

So…I’m not going to tell you what to eat.

I’m only sharing with you what I discovered to be true for me, as someone who finally managed to stop binge-eating after 30 years. (I also have a diploma in Holistic Nutrition with a specialization in Sports Fitness Nutrition.)**

I spent 30 years struggling with food to the point where I truly hated my life, and what I discovered is that solving the food problem — for me — meant I had to eat some REAL WHOLE FOOD — the kind of food that doesn’t have an ingredients list.

But…I also eat CAKE.

You need to eat nutrient-dense food.

There. I said it.

There’s just no way around it because here’s what happens when you don’t eat enough nutritious foods: your cravings will go through the roof and you will have a seemingly insatiable appetite.

Let’s remember for a moment why we need to eat as humans: to sustain life and get essential nutrients.

A nutrient is considered essential when it’s one which the human body cannot produce; meaning you have to get it from the food you eat.

As long as your body doesn’t get the nutrients it needs, YOU WILL CRAVE MORE FOOD.

Your body will say: “Hey, I know you gave me a whole bunch of food, and I am physically full, but since there were no nutrients in that food, I’m gonna need you to eat some more because I’m hoping to get those essential nutrients I need.”

We as a society are OVERFED but UNDERNOURISHED.

We take in too many calories, but many of those calories are nutrient-deficient.

Basically, we get FULL on FILLER.

If you want to control your cravings and your appetite, you’re going to have to eat some Protein, Complex Carbohydrates, and Healthy Fats.

But also…cake.

A NOTE ABOUT CAKE: As much as your body needs nutrients and will cause you to experience cravings if you don’t eat enough of them, your soul will crave cake if you deprive it of cake.

So go ahead and eat the cake, or whatever your kryptonite food is — but FIRST eat the healthy stuff.

Your body NEEDS nutrients and you will fail at controlling your cravings and your appetite if you don’t have adequate nutrition.

Bottom Line: NO NUTRIENTS = CRAVINGS + INSATIABLE APPETITE

Kicking your cravings to the curb means you gotta do two things:

1 — Eat WHOLE FOOD (nutrient-dense)

Because it helps control physical cravings and appetite.

2- Eat SOUL FOOD (cake and all the things)

Because if you don’t, certain foods will always cause you stress. (You want them but think you’re not supposed to have them, and this causes an uncomfortable internal battle, which, as it did for me, will cause you to BINGE.)
