Beheld

Though never held

He healed

What hold the darkness had upon her.

She could not keep at bay

So, her eyes on him

Met her reckoning.

Unmade

Remaining naught of what she was

His fleeting twilight

No longer beckoning.

Yet something shared rested

Asea.

Her sole survivor.

Fog tells

Her fear

To travel back

Beyond view one last time

But homeward

Ever homeward

Are her driftwood memories

Carried

With her humanity

Until both rest ashore.

Why do I write? Perhaps in order not to go mad. Or, on the contrary, to touch the bottom of my madness. - E. Wiesel
