HOW TO WRITE THE IDEAL STORY PLOT WITHIN 2 MINUTES!

ps: the examples given throughout are with reference to a potential violence-gang related novel. But the article is sure to help you in your writing process. Happy reading ;)

THE PEAK STORYLINE

This is where we actually talk about the main plot. It is important to divide this into various plots that would actually mark the height of action within your story. Doesn’t matter even if your pace throughout the story is slow, this is the part where you got to have a fast pace. Things need to be done, decisions need to be made, debts need to be paid, tasks need to be completed, etc etc. The middle or the mid-end part of the story would be dragging the most attention. It would be showcase of the thrill/misery or whatever feeling it was that you as a writer was building it up. Even if you’re writing a novel with less characters, the actions need to be fast paced.

Plan it all out here, in form of different events. Probably the offense, then the response of the offended, the defence of the protagonist and so on.

This is the part where it is vital to keep in mind the different characteristics, the flaws and strengths of your characters. Maybe someone with a bad temper might get emotional and fuck up the plans, or someone who has narrow sight may get killed because of his foolishness? Its all on you to decide.

Additional:

Make sure to have at least one such event where something unexpected happens. For instance, an old mobster who has been in the game for his whole life may be killed at a meeting initiated by him, or get himself shot in the middle of the road due to his own arrogance. If you wish to have more than one ground-breaking event, so be it. But there MUST be one such event for the story to actually confuse the readers and become unpredictable.

Unpredictability:

Now, the key is to add an element of unpredictability so don’t go ahead adding on plots that makes the end clear. It would rather lose the reader’s attention and we don’t want that, do we? So don’t get the turf bosses assassinated which establishes that the protagonist is going to win, or don’t make that doctor too shady for the readers to easily predict that he’s the traitor and would kill a man in the hospital. The thing is, don’t be predictable. Surprise yourself and you’ll surprise the readers. Keep questioning yourself ‘What if..’

What if this goes this way? What if he is unsuccessful? What if he wins the elections? what if his family meets with an accident? Etc etc etc. There is no end to it.
