The Astrologer Never Showed,

We waited in a big field under the night sky.

The Night Barney Died. Oil painting by Lynda Wallis, 1981

Twenty young girls and I were laying on blankets on a warm summer night out in a big field looking up at the night sky waiting for Barney.

He was an astrologer/astronomer. A friend of a friend who had agreed to come out to camp that night to tell us stories about the stars.
