Recently I’d found myself to be in need of a more convenient speaker setup, something I can move around my home without cables, of course this lead me down the pathway of portable Bluetooth speakers and the offerings of several different companies.
In the end I chose the NudeAudio Move L so, of course, time for a review.
I’m not going to compare this speaker to the plethora of other similar devices that have recently sprouted from out the technology ether, instead I’m going to give you the reasons I went with this particular unit and how it’s benefited my needs.
So here is the skinny, the main points why I purchased the Nudeaudio Move L (in Black/Coral of course).
Price.
The NudeAudio Move L isn’t the cheapest portable Bluetooth offering by far, but it also isn’t the most expensive, and that is an important feature of this unit.
NudeAudio have really hit the nail on the head at a little over one hundred dollars, I tested the Move L in store before purchasing and had the opportunity to compare it against the most popular brands (eg Bose, Beats, etc…) and found that even against the most expensive units (I’m looking at you Bose) the sound reproduction was outstanding for the low price tag.
Other units in the same price range sounded hollow or just didn’t have the sheer output force that the Move L possesses.
All in all, the price is just about perfect.
Performance.
I could give you specs of the Move L all day, but I won’t. Instead I want to talk about how it performed as an overall device, not just its specification.
This device performed remarkably.
I recently traveled on holiday where I was staying at several locations over nine days, entertainment of an evening would be fairly low hadn’t it been for me packing the Move L. Through out the trip I’d pack and unpack the speaker almost daily, it survived two plane trips and still hasn’t got a mark on it. I used it for everything audio I needed, be it streaming Bluetooth audio from my phone through to plugging in my older netbook via the available 3.5mm audio jack when watching a few episodes of a television show.
The Move L is sturdy, like most good audio gear is fairly heavy. Sure it’s bigger than some of its competitors, but clearly they pack in extra audio quality with larger speaker drivers, along with the ability to be much louder with very minimal distortion.
Quality.
The smooth rubberised exterior is a great addition and feels right at home on the Move L as does the soap-on-a-rope cord allowing it to be hung out of the way. Other speakers in the same price range feel very cheap and plastic, the absence of which really stands out on this device, the Move L build quality is amazing.
I’ve already spoken about the unit’s sound reproduction above so I won’t go on much more about it, but I have to say I cannot flaw the Move L at all.
The song I used to test the Bluetooth speakers in store was Deadmau5 — Some Chords which (as any Deadmau5 fan will know) has deep bass at the start of the track which evolves into a good range of mid and high notes.
The NudeAudio Move L was the only portable speaker in its price range which would even reproduce the bass which the track contained. I’ll even go so far as to say that some devices (the Beats Pill namely) couldn’t even come close to the bass reproduction of the Move L.
The only device I could find that had a slightly better sound reproduction was the Bose Soundlink Mini, a device that was over double that of the NudeAudio Move L.
Conclusion.
The bottom line is this… If you see one on a shelf, buy it.
I can’t recommend the NudeAudio Move L high enough, sturdy, sounds great and won’t hurt the wallet at all.
