City passes budget, talks new coffee shop and hockey rink in Spearfish

Monday night’s meeting in Spearfish included the approval of the next year’s $27.4 million budget and a huge surprise, it passed even with an amendment to add $160K to the Volunteer Fire Department budget. The other two are fun, in that the council is helping to get $45K of hockey equipment from Yankton to Spearfish and proponents in town are now seeking a place to build a regulation size rink in or around town, and then a presentation regarding the proposed Qdoba and City Brew where the city learned the owner set a date for completion at June 2016.
