On Monday, August 19, there was delicious Twitter beef (chicken?) over a couple of fast food sandwiches. I could not possibly tell you what the tipping point was, but my best guess is that people realized Popeyes has a legitimately delicious sandwich on its hands. Here’s one review from The Takeout. Pageviews are hidden, but I’d wager this lone article has hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of views:

We had a champ, a challenger, and a very thirsty social media juggernaut all vying for Internet points. The stage was set, and all of yesterday and well into today, #ChickenSandwichTwitter provided a welcome distraction for Americans who are increasingly worried that a chubby, orange, afraid, hateful, and senile, and incompetent might actually win again in 2020.

We’re not talking about that. This is a space for lighter things. So let’s take a bite of all three candidates and answer the question once and for all: Who won #ChickenSandwichWars?

Loser: Chick-fil-A
