What is Ultima?

Ultima gives you the building blocks you need to ship your product, leaving you to focus on the most important parts.

We’ll handle running your code, storing your data, logging users into your product, communicating with them via email and push notifications, taking payments, and more. You can use as many or as few of these components as you like.

Our main focus is the local development experience: we’re optimizing for the fastest possible “write code, hit save, check it works” loop.

Ultima will always be free for personal use, with understandable and predictable pricing for teams. You will always have the option to self-host, as Ultima will be open source from launch.

Why are we doing this?

The feedback loop of writing code and checking that it works in production is painfully slow without putting in a great deal of upfront investment of time setting up your CI/CD pipelines, creating multiple environments, etc.

There are other products that have aimed to solve this, but they tend to make you build their way. Building on Ultima won’t require you to learn any new concepts or practices. We don’t want to change your workflow, we want to enhance it.

Closed source tooling isn’t developer friendly. We’re designing Ultima in such a way that you’re never locked in with us. We want you to be able to build fast, and if for whatever reason you choose to move off us, you can do so easily and without risk.

What’s next?

We can’t wait to show you what it’s like to build on Ultima. The development experience really feels like magic.

Before we launch we’ll be launching closed alphas with our community. If you want early access join the Ultima community and follow us on Twitter for updates.

When we’re ready show Ultima to the world we’ll start exploring funding options, if you’d like to be one of the first people we talk to drop us a line.
