Be awakening

Wake up and be
A thousand-armed tree
Standing as the living spirit
Of awakening in this world

And keep the light
Of that fire
At your heart
That it might soften and grow
And acquire an intensity
That is ever more subtle

Then in one true moment
Loose it like a whipcrack
Like a struck match
As an agent of creation
That ignites
The blazing reality of awakening.

Carve a channel with a sword
The shortest path
From drama to clarity.

Stand astride the world
Of right and wrong
And this and that
And blaze
As a beacon crying “Alight!”
In a darkening field.

Be the seed and the soil
Blessing and blessed
Caressing and caressed
Holding nothing apart
Holding nothing
But this seed of awakening
