The path to concentration
is beset on all sides
by the temptation
of distraction

The longing to be elsewhere
or everywhere or nowhere
robs here and now of
what it has to offer

The wish to be different
robs this-is-how-it-is of
its power and its gift

But staying here
and nowhere else
and being this
and nothing else
and letting what wants to happen happen
in just the way it wants to happen
and staying with it until it’s done

— this is the path of concentration.
