Trials and blessings

You call me out
say — this will not do,
is not enough.
I’ll show you that
you still have stuff
to work through
and work on
- I’ll show you.

The suffering of healing edges.
The friction tells the story of
what needs to change,
repeats the past and hopes
it won’t repeat again.
Feel the burn of karma,
feel the healing flame.

Trials and blessings -
each takes a turn,
then burns and then
returns again.
It’s all the same.

Trials and blessings.
The day is dark and
full of rain. Then
darkened halls invite
the light to burn out
in the night again.

Trials and blessings.
The earth rewards
the ones who listen
with their hearts
attuned to songs and
rhythms that can start
to heal the burning pain.
It’s all the same.

Trials and blessings.

Such powers are far beyond all
I know that I can hold
I cut and fold the deck
I feel regret and then forget
the blessings that are
blossoming like flowers -
they’re ours
a hundred years, a minute, days -
punishment, reward
and praise and blame.
The big wheel turns
and it’s a waiting game

Trials.

Blessings.

All the same.
