We’re thrilled to report that our web dev team has released its first MVP at www.troopmarket.com.
This is (we believe), the first working marketplace + wallet for buying freelance services with crypto.
Here’s how it works for Buyers
- Fund your account with WorkCoin — the CryptoCurrency for freelance work. Pay for the WRK using Ether (for now)
- Find a service you are interested in. Click “Buy”
- The WRK is debited from your account and placed in escrow until the service is complete
For Sellers, its equally simple:
- create service listings in local (fiat) currency
- these listings are translated into WRK on the fly. The service is delivered over chat
- You get paid in WRK, which you can cash out in Ether (again, for now).
Because everything is token based, we can operate at razor thin margins (5%), and pay people immediately (instead of 2 weeks).
We also support the concept of REAL IDENTITY. We show you the actual identity of the freelancer before you commit. We WANT you to check out their LinkedIn or GitHub. We think this a game changer.
There is still a bunch of work to do before we start really marketing. The site is not mobile web optimized; we’re very close to releasing IOS and Android apps that will solve this, but realistically this is 2–3 weeks out. We’re also still working on notifications and emails. This is a very rough cut.
Finally, we are implementing a way to post jobs OFFERED, not only service gigs. More on that very soon.
