Meet WorkDone: Donald Wilcox, Engineering
Donald Wilcox leads product engineering for WorkDone bringing over 12 years of software, IT, technical sales, and business experience to the team.
Even in his early days as a front-end user experience developer for SEO startups in the mid-2000s, Donald clearly saw the effects that repetitive manual work had on business efficiency. Teaching and leading by example, Donald began automating simple IT tasks to create more opportunities to build better products for customers.
From there, Donald moved on to KCI (now Acelity), a leader in wound care devices, as an engineer where he helped establish the technical side of new markets in Asia, Europe and Brazil. In the latter half of his time at KCI, he served as the technical lead for an order-to-cash e-commerce product — KCI Express — which generated millions of dollars in annual revenue. While working on KCI Express, Donald was able to see how a diverse group of users, including customers, sales professionals, and customer service agents, worked on a system and where the product needed improvements. Working on KCI Express provided Donald with invaluable insight into the inefficiencies and added costs of manual repetitive data entry related to non-core function tasks.
Donald next landed at IBM, where he also found that customers were spending a lot of their time on routine manual tasks that were not core to their job function. During the next two years at IBM, Donald honed his skills to work with many clients across various industries using his cloud, content management, and software engineering experience to make customers more efficient.
Training and improving customer experiences led Donald back to entrepreneurship, and in 2017, Joe Rogers approached him about WorkDone’s vision to help people work more efficiently. As an integral team member since then, Donald has helped WorkDone develop cutting edge technology to provide real solutions to their customers.
