A close-up of a candle

Boy Smells Cashmere Kush candle — $48

Powdery musks add a luxurious interpretation to the iconic KUSH candle. A connotation of opulence and craftsmanship this scent hits deep with textured cashmere woods, white amber and earthy vetiver. Discover the distant and unknown through this exotic tonic of heady pot flower gum. A refined fragrance for the gods, its herbal warmth will seduce your surroundings.

5 stars — A gift from my wife to mask a mystery odor in my office. After a year of troubleshooting, we eventually found the source of the smell (a leaking toilet wax ring — yuk!). I haven’t used it since, but during that time this candle saved my sanity.

A stapler viewed from the side

Kokuyo Stapleless Stapler — $16

The ingenious crimp binding design allows you to securely bind paper without staples, eliminating the hassle of replenishing staples and concerns about needle contamination. It also eliminates the need to sort stapled paper for disposal.

4 stars — I bought this to replace a traditional stapler. It works well if you only need to “staple” a few sheets of paper. I like that it eliminates waste, but I’ve only had to use it a handful of times since purchasing. I’ve probably saved < 10 staples altogether.

A bottle of hand lotion

Byredo Vetyver Hand Lotion — $80

Opening with an energizing combination of bracing yet sweet angelica seeds, paired with refreshingly tart pomelo, Vetyver’s heart exhales a weightless blend of herby, aromatic mate entwined with warm, floral notes of balmy jasmine petals tempered with cool, powdery violet. Subtle tones of earthy vetyver and sensual cashmeran linger on the skin.

3 stars — Another gift from my wife. It has a pleasant smell, but I can never convince myself that my hands are worth it. I use this Neutrogena Hand Cream instead.

A customizable controller for creative applications

TourBox Elite — $268

A high-performance Bluetooth left-handed console for eye-free control. Keyboards focus on typing, while other controllers offer limited input actions and functions, leading to disruptive wrist movements and interruptions. TourBox Elite innovates professional creative processes like editing, color grading, drawing, and design with intuitive software and hardware synergy, unique screen interactions, and immersive tactile feedback.

4 stars — It’s built well (the haptic feedback is really nice), and it’s easy to set up profiles for different apps. I got it to do more illustration in Photoshop but haven’t found the time.

A voice-controlled screen and speaker

Nest Hub Max — $229

Google Nest Hub Max with Google Assistant helps your busy family stay in touch and on track. Make video calls, check in on your home when you’re away, get a personalized calendar with just a glance, and enjoy Google Photos, YouTube TV, videos, and music.

5 stars — I use it to watch the occasional YouTube video, but mostly it sits on my desk and displays photos of our daughter.
