Bill Gates has well said “We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.”

So what’s a better place and environment than a meeting being it one-on-one or other cooperative meetings; an employee or manager a feedback is necessary for all. Any meeting without a feedback is incomplete as the process of improvement will slow down.

What is a feedback?

Feedback is the information about the reactions to a product, a person’s performance etc. which is used as a basis for an improvement. It should not be confused with criticism.

What is the difference between constructive and destructive feedback?

Feedback is helpful and constructive; criticism is hurtful and damaging. Remember to point out on someone’s flaws in a gentle way not to destroy them from their roots itself.

Constructive feedback is a technique that’s generally used to boost confidence in an employee while gently telling them what they could do in future to perform better.

Destructive feedback is a tool that’s more or less used to hurt people’s feeling. So always try to be soft while giving any view to anyone.

Why are feedback important?

1) Sharing feedback give a new perspective to the person getting one. Sometimes gaining a new perspective a different view is the only thing which we need.

2) The person receiving a feedback gets to know that they can do better if someone else is seeing that potential in them’

3) The process of self improvement speeds up. Once you know what do you have to do will make your targets and goals clear for the next time.

4) It is also very important to give feedbacks as only then your subordinate will get to know what you want from them.

How to give a feedback?

Remember taking a feedback is important as if you don’t ask for a feedback you would never have a chance to give one. Giving feedback is also an art be specific what you need to tell your employee but with empathy. Try giving a feedback after getting full knowledge about the topic and making your mind crystal clear about what you need the other person to do. Never lecture someone on how they should go on doing the work, always give them a chance to speak making it a two-way street.

It is very important to note that one should never take any feedback in a wrong or hurtful manner as feedback are for improvement not for destroying your mindset.

Always try to analyse every feedback given to you before the next meet scheduled otherwise there is no point sharing the feedback.
