EUROPEAN TOURISM ACADEMY DIRECTOR PRAISES SAFE AND TRUSTED AIRLINE FOR COVID-19 PREVENTION CERTIFICATION AS A GAME CHANGER

Academician Mircea CONSTANTINESCU, Director of European Tourism Academy, presented the ECTT recommendations for re-starting air-transport industry with this introductory note: “Safety and reputation becoming even more important to today’s flyers, there is a clear need for airlines to differentiate themselves in order to encourage passengers back onto their flights. Obtaining the CERTIFICATION FOR SAFE AND TRUSTED AIRLINE FOR COVID-19 PREVENTION is clearly one of the best way to achieve this quality step forward!”

European Tourism Academy‘s latest consumer study paper highlights evolving expectations, attitudes and behaviors about travel, shows an increase in traveler confidence after a trip has been taken.

For these travelers, certification also now is an increasingly important consideration given their comfort with health and safety protocols — more so than brand loyalty, which is now “in flux.”

During the initial phase of the pandemic, consumers associated brand trust with health and safety measures.

Now, more than 37 percent said they were likely to switch preferred airlines and 41 percent said they were likely to switch hotels in favor of COVID-19 certified airlines and hospitality providers.

Almost 40 percent are undecided, making them prime candidates for targeted offers by certified companies.

Meanwhile, customers who provide the most value to travel providers — high-value customers — are most likely to explore switching brands with COVID-19 certification as the main driving factor for their decisions.

IATA reported that, since the start of 2020, during which 1.2 billion passengers have travelled, there have been only 44 cases of COVID-19 reported which were thought to have been associated with a flight taken. That’s one case for every 27 million travellers.

IATA’s Director General and CEO, Alexandre de Juniac, had commented “that the risk of contracting the virus on board appears to be in the same category as being struck by lightning.”

More than half of those surveyed (54 percent) say that an airline’s reputation is now a more significant factor when choosing flights than it was pre-pandemic. It has, therefore, never been a more crucial time for airlines to differentiate themselves from their competitors by obtaining an international certification like: CERTIFICATION FOR SAFE AND TRUSTED AIRLINE FOR COVID-19 PREVENTION.

European Tourism Academy is strongly supporting and encouraging air companies across the globe to register for the CERTIFICATION FOR SAFE AND TRUSTED AIRLINE FOR COVID-19 PREVENTION programme as the best way to restart tourism and travel in the near future, concluded the study presentation Academician Mircea Constantinescu.
