Where to watch the World Cup with real fans in London this weekend
Feel the passion
So we’re down to the business end of the World Cup. If you haven’t had a chance to participate in our World Cup Festival yet, this weekend could be the perfect time. No England, but there’s ample opportunity to watch each remaining team surrounded by their own fans in London. From our experience, the atmospheres generated are just amazing. Do some of our suggestions and you could be in for quite a weekend!
Saturday
5pm ko Brazil vs Chile
To watch with real Brazilians head over to Barraco in Willesdon — a really intimate Brazilian place. Sadly the Brazilian party at the Coronet isn’t happening any more so we’d recommend going to Rich Mix’s Joga Bola Brazilian festival. Huge screen , free and Brazilian label Mr Bongo doing live performances.

For Chile, head to El Vergel in Borough. It’s not as raucous as some, but still good food and plenty of table thumping (literally).
9pm ko Colombia vs Uruguay
Join us for our free tour of ‘Little Colombia’ around Elephant & Castle — the Colombian hub of South London. We’ve booked a table and got a Colombian guide for you. It’s an incredible atmosphere down there and the party will be going on long into the night (if they win). Reserve your place here
To see Uruguay, join their fans at Cantinho de Goias in Stockwell. You may well meet David Grey — an Englishman who staunchly supports Uruguay and received some recent press coverage for his efforts. He informs us the Uruguyans are seriously pissed off about the Suarez incident so could be a good chance to hear their views. Just across the street is another Colombian place which could make for some interesting South American rivalry on the streets of London

Sunday
5pm ko Netherlands vs Mexico
2 of the best teams to watch in the company of their own fans. For the Dutch experience head to De Hems on Macclesfield Street. A sea of orange.

For Mexico, head to Mestizo. It is one of the best places we’ve visited to watch a game thus far. Passion, tequilas and party! What more could you want!? A Mexican journalist there last time told us that she hadn’t experienced such a good atmosphere anywhere since the Mexico World Cup 1986! High praise indeed!

9pm ko Costa Rica vs Greece
Although it may be the lowest profile of the weekend games we’d really recommend this one. Particularly with the Costa Ricans. We love them so much we’ve launched a #supportcostarica campaign. Lovely people, incredible passion and the team are the brilliantly overachieving underdogs. There’s less than 200 Costa Ricans in the whole of the UK so they could do with your support. Join them at Number 1 Sports Bar, 1 City Road. It’s free entrance but if you reserve through us we’ll meet you before and arrange a welcome and intro with our Costa Rican friends. Click here to do that

You could also watch with the Greeks at Cafe Byzantium on Moscow Road in Bayswater. We went there earlier in the tournament and despite having heard great reports of a raucous atmosphere, their 11pm game vs Japan was anything but. Still — it might be different now they are in the last 16.
So have a good weekend — tweet us @worldinlon and use the hashtag #worldcupfest if you end up doing any of this. We’d love to hear your experiences and see your photos.
If you see Ed — the founder of World in London (and author of this) — come by and say hello. This is what I look like
