The Second World Digital Asset Summit (WDAS), jointly hosted by Block72 and FBG Capital, will be held in San Francisco from December 9th to 11th, 2018.

Attending the summit are well-known figures in science and technology, some of which will be giving keynote presentations and speaking on our panels. The following are the introductions of three of amazingly accomplished individuals who will be participating at WDAS.

David Chaum

Computer Scientist and Cryptographer; Founder of Digicash and CEO of Elixxir

David Chaum is a renowned name in the history of crytocurrency. Contrary to popular belief, Bitcoin is actually not the first known cryptocurrency. Twenty-five years before its creation, Chaum had already invented a formula as an extension of the RSA algorithm for network encryption. With this formula, people could send a string of numbers to others and, what’s more, this number could be modified by its recipients. There is a large number of original signatures of recipients putting money in the bank account, yet the amount is not equal to that signed by foundries. David’s invention allows the alternative currency to be untraceably modified without destroying the foundry’s identification. Later on, Chaum founded Digicash and created the electronic payment system eCash. Based on these, he is honored as the pioneer of cryptocurrencies.

David Chaum is a creator of cryptography protocols, and his most famous invention is DigiCash. His paper Untraceable Electronic Mail, Return Addresses, and DigitalPseudonyms, written in 1981, laid the foundation of anonymous communications research. David received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982. In the same year, he founded the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR) and formed a cryptography research group at the National Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science in Amsterdam; in 1990, he founded company DigiCash and in 1995, he was awarded the European Information Technology Prize. In 2004, Chaum was appointed as the researcher of the International Cryptography Research Association; in 2010, he won the RSA Conference Award for excellence in mathematics.

James Nguyen

Certified Information Privacy Professional/U.S.; CEO of nChain Group

Jimmy Nguyen, CEO of nChain Group, will give a keynote speech on Bitcoin SV: Return of the Original Bitcoin and Satoshi Vision. At nChain, they believe that the most powerful blockchain is Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and that BCH represents the true Bitcoin. They believe with its bigger blocks, faster speed, and lower transaction fees, Bitcoin Cash can fulfill the vision of the original Satoshi Nakamoto white paper — a global peer-to-peer electronic cash system that can be used on a daily basis. With the recent controversy around Bitcoin Cash, Jimmy’s keynote will sure draw many people’s attention.

Dawn Song

Professor of Computer Science, University of California, Berkeley; Founder and CEO of Oasis Labs

Dawn Song has won the MacArthur Genius Award, World Outstanding Young Innovator Award, the MacArthur Fellowship, Guggenheim Fellowship, Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, TR-35 Award, etc. She is also the winner of the first prize in the four international major security conference papers. It is worth mentioning that her papers are the most frequently cited ones in the field of computer security. Song is praised by the media as “the godmother of Internet security”.
