Your Call to Action for #GivingTuesday and North Bay Fire Relief

Join us on #GivingTuesday to support 38,500 undocumented victims affected by the Sonoma Fires #SonomaStrong

--

Noted as the worst fires in California history, the North Bay fires erupted in October 2017, killing dozens of people, forcing evacuations and burning countless homes to the ground as they scorched tens of thousands of acres. Of those affected, were 35,000+ undocumented and uninsured immigrants who have no legal access to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) aid and cannot approach local authorities for assistance.

On Monday November 20th, the San Francisco Global Shapers Hub initiated efforts by raising almost $3,000 for UndocuFund and its North Bay fire relief efforts, supporting undocumented children, families and communities in Sonoma County who have been displaced or had their lives ruined by the fires this fall. SF Shapers along with friends, family, and members of the Bay Area community attended #WineDownforaCause, our happy hour fundraiser in partnership with SoMa-based Wine Down SF.

#WineDownforaCause was just the beginning. We still need your help.

The Global Shapers West Coast hubs (Seattle, LA, Portland, Sacramento, and San Francisco) have officially partnered with UndocuFund to raise one million dollars through December 1. Your support will help families and communities of undocumented individuals put food on the table this season, in a place they can call home, and help them begin to rebuild their lives. To date, the UndocuFund has provided initial financial assistance to more than 100 families, benefiting over 400 people, half of whom are children.

Please support us by sharing this link (http://bit.ly/SFShapers4UndocuFund) and donating what you can. You can even share this tweet, Facebook post, or Instagram post to help. We can’t wait to see what impact we can make this week.

The love in the air is thicker than the smoke. Thank you for all your help.

The UndocuFund for Fire Relief in Sonoma County was created by a coalition of local immigration nonprofits to directly assist undocumented victims of the Northern California fires. One hundred percent of funds will go to victim support. Learn more at www.undocufund.org.
