On 11 November 2019, the Sri Lankan Government released a limited edition postal stamp to mark 50 years of working with the World Food Programme. The stamp was launched at Miloda during an event graced by dignitaries from the Government of Sri Lanka, the United Nations, and other development organizations.

Speakers included Mr Sivagnanasothy, Secretary of Ministry of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, and Youth Affairs; Ms Hanaa Singer, UN Resident Coordinator; Brenda Barton, WFP Sri Lanka Country Director.

As Sri Lanka has progressed from a low-income to upper-middle income country, its relationship with WFP has also transitioned to livelihood support, capacity-building, and a focus on nutrition and resilience. This half-century milestone celebrated that progress.
