Can You Design an Economic System?

I’ll give you the clues, and then you figure it out.

Are you creative? Can you design the basics of a workable economic system that doesn’t harm the earth? Fair use.

Most people think of the economy as business, and it is, to some degree true. However, it is only true because that is the way we have set up the economy. An economy is any system that produces and distributes goods. It doesn’t have to be run by business. It doesn’t have to be run by the state. It doesn’t even have to be run by people. It could, just as easily, be run by machines and artificial intelligence.

As human beings, we need an economy. That’s because we need things to survive. We need clothes, shelter, medicine, food, water, and tools. Sometimes, we need weapons (but I sure wish we didn’t). As our basic needs are met, we look for things that make us happy and comfortable. We need furniture, candy, alcohol, decoration, music, stories, and so on.
