Why Aren’t Lions Vegetarian?
We live in an age where too many people are trying to make the facts fit their ideology.
A few days ago, I mentioned to a vegan that I ate meat because my body needed nutrients like B12, and B12 was not available in fruits, nuts, vegetables, etc. His response was rapid, accompanied by the obligatory rolling of the eyeballs, “That’s what Vitamin B 12 capsules are for.”
Precisely — that’s my entire point.
A vegetarian and vegan diet does not work in a society where vitamins are not manufactured. Nor have they been manufactured for the millions of years that human beings have been on this planet. In other words, the flesh of our fellow life-forms on this planet provides food for human kind.
Cruelty to animals
At this point, the argument generally shifts to the next level. “Do you know how those poor animals are slaughtered?” Yes, I do. However, I also know that I spent ten years on a vegetarian diet, and I permanently lost my health through it, and I am not alone in that.
The days when vegetarians and vegans could tell you with a straight face that sticking to a diet sans animal and fish flesh was the healthier choice are now gone. Science is now proving otherwise.
