This painting is in reference to the myth of the “Plague Woman” or “Marsh Beast,” the once supposed leader of the ykjabizaan. No one knows who she is, or if she is even a woman, but historically female pronouns have been used. Some say she was one of the original members of the Mephicant Order, while others believe she was a prototype of the Demon King or a disciple of the Wandering Ascetic.
