Quagroth McGinnis is a noted Laetian humanist and anthropologist concerned with extra-continental human civilizations. In this excerpt he briefly speaks about the

Despite the permanent scar of the Wastelands, the Purple Continent has seen many resettlement efforts since, with varying degrees of success.

The Third Continent (popularly known as the Purple Continent because of the Nephilim) is estimated to have around 2.5 to 3 million inhabitants of various races, kinds, creeds, and walks of life. This is almost double the population of the First Continent alone! Most of the population either resides in the western half of the landmass, or along the coastal regions of the east. In general, the Continent is very isolationist and largely self-sufficient (especially the west), and they do not partake much in the affairs of the other Continents at all.

Their relationship with the First Continent is almost non-existent minus some sort of murky relationship between them, Dalforth, and the Gul’wazhi, deeper than the surface level human freight trade. However, the relationship they have with the Second Continent is more obscure largely because of the major cultural and sociopolitical differences between First and Second Continental human societies.

Many of the resettlement camps have certain protocols for those wishing to emigrate to their regions and enjoy the care of their guard and access to their resources. One would be foolish to think they could survive without their hand. Whether you are an immigrant, expatriate, nomad, or pilgrim, groups of them first arrive at the stables, a sort of holding area to collect fresh arrivers and vet them. Here those deemed fit wait to be organized into flocks, a sort of “cohort of shared destiny,” before being taken deeper into the Continent.

The entire process is overseen at the ground level by the Sentinels — towering and commanding figures who most likely serve at the behest of a greater organizational machine. Whether they are human, golem, beast, or something else is a mystery — they seem to have no biological equivalent in our lands. They tend to the travelers in the stables and protect them from threats. However, they are merciless towards outsiders who do not partake in the designated immigration process and think they can come about or do as they please. This is because above all their other responsibilities, the Sentinels, as the name implies, are considered the first level of Continental protection and cultural preservation, which is of the highest importance to whoever or whatever is in charge. It is unclear how long such a system has been in place, but there have been references to the Sentinels dating to the early Golden Epoch.

Notably, anyone who relocates to the Purple Continent has never returned to their original home, at least through any publicly known and authorized methods. Are they forbidden from doing so, or is life there that much better? Unfortunately, I do not know. Time immemorial has shown us that the Purple Continent is a land of enigma only understood by its keepers…
