Situated on the south coast of France, the small nation of Monaco is home to some of the wealthiest individuals on the planet. 32% of its population are millionaires, equating to 1 in 3 people. After Lichtenstein, it has the second-highest GDP per capita at $165,420 and has been a draw for business people and celebrities alike for decades.

It is, therefore, pretty evident to see that Monaco is not a cheap place to live. For a country that’s smaller than New York’s Central Park, Monaco does have its benefits. Here are some of the features of this small nation.

1. House prices

Often regarded as the most expensive in the world, Monegasque houses have an average square foot price of $4,560, beating Hong Kong at $2,859 and New York at $1,773.

A small, one-bedroom apartment is likely to set you back a cool $1.6 million, and a typical penthouse can set you back upwards of $55 million.

It is a good investment, though, and in 2017 house prices rose by 17%.
