My 10 Favorite Digital Nomad Bases
Some of the best places to live and work as a nomad
As digital nomads, we are always on the hunt for suitable nomad bases.
We seek locations with favorable remote working conditions — but also opportunities to still our thirst for adventure.
That’s where the following cities excel.
In my 2+ years as a full-time traveler, I spent a considerable amount of time in all of these locations — getting a feel for their suitability as nomad bases.
When selecting a nomad base — a place to live and work from for at least a month, I base my choices on the following remote working criteria:
- size: the city should have at least one million inhabitants;
- regional preferences: I tend to favor cities in Southern/Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Asia;
- cost of living: I try to find places that offer a good price/quality ratio;
- connectivity: my nomad bases need to have strong WiFi;
- things to do: we all want to explore intriguing sites on our off-days;
- public transportation: I don’t want to depend on a rental car in my base;
