When someone is asked “Which is the most beautiful canal city in Europe?”, the first place that comes to most people’s minds is Venice, Amsterdam, or Saint Petersburg. However, according to a poll created by GoEuro, that city is surprisingly Utrecht.

Utrecht, the so-called mini Amsterdam, is the fourth-largest city in the Netherlands. Despite being so close to Amsterdam, Utrecht is insanely underrated and overshadowed by Amsterdam, The Hague, and Rotterdam. This was also a point made by Lonely Planet when Utrecht made it in the top 10 world’s most neglected places.

Not only is it rich in culture, but the town of Utrecht is also artistic and mesmerizing with unique characteristics that you cannot find anywhere else in the world.
