Hiking Patagonia with Intrepid — Exploring Buenos Aires
Part 1
All of my previous hiking trips have been booked and planned by myself as I love the independent way of travelling and following my own agenda so needless to say I needed a lot of convincing to take a leap into the unknown and use a tour operator for a trip of a lifetime to Patagonia! Here is my experience of the Intrepid tour Patagonia Wilderness
Before we started the hiking adventure Carl, Matt and I decided to have a few days to explore the beautiful and chilled out city of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital. We stayed in the stylish area of Palermo which just oozes coolness with a great number of coffee shops, parks, bars and places to eat.
We stayed in a great AirBnB called Duplex con terraza y parrilla which was a fantastic two bedroom apartment in the middle of Palermo with a great outdoor space for a beer and BBQ in the evening. Sign up for AirBnB with the link above and get £25 off your first stay!
We spent three nights in Palermo over the weekend which we felt was enough times to explore the city, see some of the top attractions without being in a rush and to chill out before our intensive tour began
Our Top Tips of thing to do in Buenos Aires include
- Eat steak at La Brigada Buenos Aires
- Have a guided tour around La Bombonera, home to the world famous Boca Juniors football team
- Eat enchiladas at a local market
- Enjoy a dulce de leche ice cream in the sunshine
- Chill and socialise into the early hours in Palermo’s chilled out bars and restaurants.
I highly recommend spending time in BA to relax and explore at a gentle pace before starting the Patagonia Wilderness tour. We were also lucky to experience a pride parade during our time in BA which really did add to the experience of such a beautiful city.
