Dr. Ataat Khan

Dr. Ataat Khan can be described as a man of truly high stature in the literal sense of the phrase. His stature is tall in every conceivable sense — physical, intellectual, social and spiritual. 6 Ft 3 inches tall, robust and handsome, he can talk with rare authority on a number of subjects and can quote the verses of Quran and the poetry of Allama Iqbal with remarkable ease and poise. Further, he is not just a man of words; he is a man of action who can very well be called Dynamism Personified. He never sits idle. Throughout all his waking hours he remains busy in diverse pursuits, ranging from entrepreneurial to spiritual. A medico, he went on to get Masters in Business Administration and then soon emerged as a successful industrialist with offices in many countries. His evening passes in one country and the morning in another. Yet tiredness hardly touches him. Always fresh, he can simultaneously discuss the exegesis of Quran, the economics, the current affairs and the poetry. In spite of all the achievements which a few can boast of at the age of 40, he is humble to the core of his heart and speech. Always ready to help others, his greatest strength lies in the strength of his total commitment to God, Prophet (SAWS) and his Companions (RA). Whenever he talks, the verses of the Book of God, the Sayings of His Prophet and the examples of his Companions embellish his conversation. He can very well be described as an emerging stalwart of Muslim community who in coming years will Insha Allah prove to be a gem for the whole nation.

Family Background and Early Education

Ataat was born in the family of Rahat Qareem Khan in village Hasanpur, Moradabad on 15the January 1978. His father was a Zamindar and a Construction business contractor. Ataat soon moved to Saudi Arabia along with his father and did his schooling from there. He did his High Scholl from Cambridge School and after intermediate joined Manipur Medical College in Karnataka for MBBS. He also completed a course in Emergency Medicine and then pursued MBA from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany.

Social and Spiritual Pursuits

Right from early schooling days he has been spiritually inclined pursuing Qur’anic and Islamic studies with utmost passion. Even in his medical college days, he had been organising various programmes aimed at religious awakening and understanding of Quran. His love for Islamic and spiritual pursuits also brought him face to face with the poetry of Rumi and Iqbal. They had visible impact on his intellectual and spiritual ascendency.

In between his professional and business pursuits he misses no opportunity to discuss religious and spiritual issues with whoever he comes into contact with. He specifically tries to engage the youth in the hope that they would contribute to society as the true ambassadors of Islam. He aspires to see the establishment of a society based on Justice and Peace, as enshrined in the ayas of the Book of God., He believes that we have the right to follow and the freedom to follow what we believe in terms of creed. Right to opinion is a fundamental right with the only condition that it should not be aimed at damaging others. The best source of law is from Allah SWT whose supreme sovereign Lord of the universe. Allah has given us a very clear guidance to every aspect of life right from social to economic to personal, family and social affairs. Taking clue from Prophet Ibrahim’s act of bringing Hajra and Ishmail to Mecca, he explains it as Allah’s plan to raise the spiritual, intellectual nd social level of the humanity to new heights. He has firm belief that only pure monotheism can bring peace to society. He is critical of Christians and some others diverting to Monasticism, which is against God’s natural laws for human beings. However he is always ready to cooperate and work with people belonging to all religions for the sake of peace and humanity.

He believes that the primary reason of the problem faced by Ummah is its distancing from the essence of Quran. He argues that Quran provides guidelines even for small behavioural attitudes like how women should walk (Musa AS story at Madyan) or what should be the relationship between father and son (Ibrahim and Ishmail AS). The Muslim Ummah including Indians cannot thrive unless they follow the messages of Quran and Sunnah, the Last Sermon by Prophet Muhammad SAW being an important cornerstone.

He feels that the biggest lesson young people should learn is respect of elders in addition to their total commitment to Allah and Rasul (SAW).
