On Wednesday 10th January we’re excited to be hosting Codebar at the WorldRemit office — Codebar is a non-profit initiative that facilitates the growth of a diverse tech community by running regular programming workshops.

WorldRemit is all about bringing people together, helping them reach their full potential — and that’s exactly what we aim to do for our team here too. It’s no accident that our team come from a wide variety of backgrounds, we believe that bringing different experiences and perspectives together helps fuel creativity and innovation.

So, when we heard about Codebar’s ambitions to encourage more under-represented people to consider careers in technology, we were keen to support them.

The idea behind Codebar’s events is to provide opportunities to learn programming in a collaborative environment, helping people to expand their career opportunities, whilst meeting new people and having fun.

On Wednesday evening students will have the opportunity to spend a couple of hours, in small groups, working with over 20 coaches from some of London’s top tech companies, including members of the WorldRemit team.

I’ll be coaching people in Python, alongside colleagues and other developers who will be covering other core programming skills.

If you’re thinking about a career in coding, no matter what level of expertise, why not come and learn in good company. This event is completely free for attendees, and there will be food and drink provided!

You can register your interest for the event on Codebar’s website, and let us know what skill you’d be interested in developing.
