Growing up - I

Growing up is to understand that you are as special as you are ordinary. That you are similar to everyone else out there in the most essential sense, and yet completely unique. And most importantly, that it is all OK.

You adventurer you —
As a kid, you discovered the insect that glows
You invented magnetic levitation
You smiled the widest smile that ever smiled.
Yes you are special. You are a genius. You are an adventurer.

You rebellious rebel you —
As a teenager, you knew what was wrong with the world,
You knew just the right thing to do.
You knew the change that must come
and you knew that you would be the change agent.
Yes you are special. You are unique. You are going to change the world.

The happiest hopester you —
Yes you are the luckiest person alive,
so in love,
so sure of your life that your are building,
you know that everything is wonderful and would only get better
(or that everything is down in dumps and would only get worse)
Yes you are awesome. building your life. on the way to top.

You —
suddenly realize that you are among many
the many who are awesome
the many who are lonesome
the many who are vulnerable
the many who are happy
the many who are angry
the many who are clueless
the many who are.

You —
perhaps are nothing more than a carrier of an idea
of a gene
of a reality repeated billions of times, unaltered.

You —
perhaps are a part of the greater machine
taking you along, as you help it move along
an essential part.
Moving in directions unknown, towards endless ends.

You —
are as ephemeral as the rain drop
and just as vital and essential.

You —
exist.
A tiny sparkle in the grand universe.
perhaps with a purpose. perhaps without.

Yes, you are insignificant.
Yet, you are not.

and it is all OK.
