Japan, earthquakes and in between

We are almost at the end of our Japan tour, when we had a nasty wake up today. At 6am, M shouts at me to wake up! I open my eyes and feel the whole house us rattling back and forth, the windows are knocking, ceiling lamps . Realising is is an earthquake, we silently try to evaluate how much time is it. We had another quake the day before which lasted for 20 seconds, this one was stronger. After a minute or so, it died down and it was quiet again. We are in Japan, so I kind of assumed quakes are normal, but I ’t realise we experienced the first major one since 2011 disaster!

We managed to get back to sleep, though both M and A were pretty shaken (literally) for the rest of the day. D and A slept through the whole episode, they’re tough to wake up anyways.

Coincidentally, we went to the Science Museum today and enjoyed a ‘private' workshop on how buildings today are built to withstand different magnitude of quakes which was a good reassurance for us that SkyTree would not fall on our heads some day.
