Schengen Tourist Visa in Bucharest
Since Romania is not part of Schengen region, any Non-EU citizen is only allowed to visit Schengen countries with a valid Schengen Visa.
Since me and my family (staying in Bucharest Romania) recently decided to visit Greece, one of the Schengen country, we applied for Schengen visa from Greece embassy in Bucharest. In this post I will list down the documents required, along with specifics of these documents , for yourself or any dependant family member. I will also describe the ways to arrange these documents.

- You should apply for Schengen visa from Greece embassy not earlier than 3 months before travel and no later than 15 days before travel.

Documents required for the person having work permit
- Valid Romanian Residence Permit ( Original / Copy )
- Filled application form
- Copy of the work contract (Original / Copy )
- Bank account statement for the last 6 months.
- Rental Contract for house/flat ( Original / Copy )
- Proof of itinerary (plan of traveling), e.g. reservation for plane, bus or train. In case you travel by your own means of transportation, insurance document of the vehicle.
- Proof of accommodation in Greece (e.g. hotel reservation). In case visiting family or friend, signed invitation of the Greek host legalised by Greek Authorities.
- Payment receipt of payment for booking of accommodation if applicable.
- One recent passport size photograph.
- Standard Travel health insurance for Schengen region. Please contact EUROINS Romania. They are economical and know exactly what is needed. I got it done from this EUROINS office — Str. Drumul Taberei, nr. 35A, bl. 803, sc. 3, parter, București 061344
- Cash payment of 400 Lei.
Documents needed from employer
- Original Certificate by the employer in below format
The document should mention the start date and end date with employer if any. If there is no end date, then it’s necessary to mention that period is infinite. Please contact your HR department for this.
- Certification of the Romanian company’s entry in the Romanian commercial register.
Please ask for this document from HR or legal department. They might ask for some additional approval for this in some cases but they should issue this considering that it’s a legitimate requirement for visa.
Documents required for dependants
- Valid Romanian Residence Permit ( Original / Copy )
- Filled application form. If child, both parents need to sign.
- Rental Contract for house/flat ( Original / Copy )
- Proof of itinerary (plan of traveling), e.g. reservation for plane, bus or train. In case you travel by your own means of transportation, insurance document of the vehicle.
