A universal logo for thrifters

Being thrifty was one of those trends that you knew existed, but never really got people talking. Some even thought that buying thrifted clothes made you “uncool” and “cheap.” Well, think again, because thrift shopping is quickly gaining popularity and actually helps fight fashion waste. So thredUP and designer Christian Siriano teamed up to create a whole new logo that will embrace the thrifting lifestyle. It’s the first universal logo for all used clothes.

How is that even possible? Simple, consumers can get a free logo patch when they order off thredUp. You can put this great logo on anything you buy from your local thrift store and be proud of your style.

This all sounds great and all, but there is a catch. Only one patch will be given per customer, so you’ll have to figure out which secondhand clothing you’ll like to display it on. While we love this new and fun logo idea, thredUp does have something else in mind for creating the logo. Just like any other business, thredUp is trying to bring in more consumers, and keep the loyal ones. ThredUp has made a limited-edition collection of styles that already come with the applied patch logo!

Once you get your iconic logo, thredUp wants their consumers to come together and show off their clothes on social media using the hashtag #ThriftLoudly. Not only does this movement encourage others to be proud of where they shop, but it also encourages the need for change. I personally love this idea of a universal logo that represents the thrifty style.

It’s definitely a great move from thredUp, because not only are they speaking out on a social issue; they are also letting people embrace where they shop for clothes. But the ones that benefit the most from this are probably thredUp themselves. Not only do they get new consumers, they also grow their brand awareness across social media platforms. Will other thrift shops join in on the fun, or will this universal logo just become the thredUp thrifted logo?
