It has been announced that FedEx will be partnering with different retailers including Walmart, Walgreens, and Target to launch a delivery robot for online orders. Russell Redman of Supermarket News added that FedEx said, “Called the FedEx SameDay Bot, the wheeled, shoulder-high autonomous delivery device will enable retailers to accept small-shipment orders from nearby customers and bring the items directly to their homes or businesses on the same day.”

FedEx also added that they believe that there is an increasing need for “solutions to support on-demand, hyper-local delivery” and that “60% of retailers’ customers live within three miles of a store.”

The company plans to test this new bot this summer in certain markets, one of which being Memphis, so long as the final city approvals come through.
