Spotify Wants To Help Your Pet Vibe Out

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Spotify is the reigning champion of spot-on curated playlists. Now they’ve done it again with pet playlists. It’s “music for best friends,” they say.

They’ve launched a new playlist generator that mixes your music taste with the information they get from the questionnaire you answer about your pet to curate a list of songs that you and your pet can jam out to together.

It’s not just dogs and cats, either. Other animals that they’ve listed as options on the first question are hamsters, birds, and iguanas. Other questions they ask are regarding your animal’s energy level, curiosity, and friendliness. They round it out by requesting a picture of your pet’s cute lil face and name so they can personalize the playlist.

Then you get your playlist. It’s mostly songs from your own playlist, with a few other similar songs added in. Since I said my dog is relaxed and curious, I can definitely hear how they took it into account with their song selections, i.e. slower tempo songs with things like bells and other background variations that might make her ears wiggle a little.

They even threw in a song called, “Imma dog” in there. I see what you did there Spotify.

A lot of people like to leave music or a TV on for their pets when they leave the house to make them feel more comfortable, but have you ever thought to yourself, “hmm, I wonder what my dog wants to listen to?” Or do you just force your own music taste on your pet? What if they HATE classical music and you force them to listen to it all day? Stop the torture.
