With 28,000 stores worldwide, Starbucks is no stranger to international markets. However, its new arrival in Italy is something worth noting. Italy served as inspiration for the mega coffee chain, so it makes sense that Starbucks put deliberate thought and care into their new Reserve Roastery in Milan.

The location has historical charm, housed in a former post office near the busy Palazzo delle Poste, which is located near beautiful and tourist worthy locations. This is Starbucks third Roastery ever. The others opened in Seattle in 2014 and Shanghai in 2017.

Jennifer Warnick released a seven act story which details the initial inspiration and the following challenges and obstacles that led to the premiere of this new location. Warnick states it plainly; “This isn’t just any Starbucks store. It couldn’t be, not if it was going to truly pay homage to the Italian culture that inspired the brand. It had to be one of the grandest Starbucks ever.”

The location is beautiful and features freshly baked artisanal food from local baker, Rocco Princi as well as locally roasted Arabica coffee (sourced from 30 countries!). Keeping the charm and history while taking the time to provide high quality and artisan options will hopefully give the location plenty of draw for tourists and locals alike.
