WRISE (Women in Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy) and our partner organizations have been collecting industry data on the gender gap in renewable energy. And it’s clear that the industry has a problem: just over 1 in 4 members of the solar and wind workforces are women. But while statistics and graphs help illustrate the current diversity gap, it’s not enough to help many understand why and how companies can change to be more inclusive.

WRISE has crafted our 10 best practices for recruitment and retention, but before we release our findings and papers on each topic, we need to tell the human stories behind the data. In other words, we need your story to help tell our story.

To help you tell your story from July 24–28 we’ll be engaging with you on our various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram) with specific questions about your experience in the industry. We’ll be in a dialogue with you about recruitment, promotion, work/life balance, and other important topics to understand the personal history of challenges and successes in the renewable industries. Please join us for #FindHerKeepHer social media week this Monday-Friday.

Here’s how to get involved this week:

Questions to answer via social media with hashtag #Findherkeepher

NOTE: We will work to protect your identity from employers and others if you would like to share personal information or challenges that you are currently facing.

What will we do with your stories?
Our goal is to put out 10 pieces based on each of our 10 focus areas for organizations working to recruit retain and advance diverse talent. We’ll be working with you to refine your narrative and scrub any confidential details to make it something that you feel comfortable sharing.

Before we publish anything, we’ll be sure to have your sign off. With your help, our reports will be personal and compelling in a way that straight data can’t.

From there, we’ll be working with employers across the sectors to rethink their policies to make the industry better for all employees, regardless of background, age, race, sexual orientation, or gender. Your stories will help countless others thrive.

If you’d like to learn more about the initiative, watch our recorded webinar or visit the WRISE corporate diversity page.

Thank you for your help!

We’ll “see you” July 24–28!
