How To Swap Wrapped Zcash on Sushiswap

This is a step by step guide on how to purchase Wrapped Zcash, an ERC20 token representing a 1:1 share of Zcash (WZEC) on Ethereum. We will demonstrate how to buy WZEC on Sushiswap.

Before you begin please ensure the following:

  • You have a browser with Metamask installed (Chrome and Brave work well for this purpose).
  • Your address you’ll use on MetaMask is already funded with some ETH to pay for gas costs associated with the necessary transactions during the swap process.

You can begin by going to the Sushiswap dashboard and use the Swap feature.

You’ll need to click the Connect to a wallet button in the upper right-hand corner and then your MetaMask app will allow you to authorize which address you’d like to use.

To find WZEC or any of’s wrapped tokens you’ll need to adjust your token list as shown below. Click the dropdown menu under Select a Token and click change.

In the Add a list field type the following: wrapped.tokensoft.eth

Scroll through the list and you’ll see the list called Wrapped Tokens and you can select it to view the full list.

Select your desired token, in this case WZEC and then you can simply change the From section to the cryptocurrency you wish to buy WZEC with.

Enter the amount of your selected cryptocurrency you’d like to spend or alternatively the amount of WZEC you’d like to buy and then approve that cryptocurrency for your trade if prompted. After confirming with MetaMask you will then be able to enable the Swap and confirm with MetaMask once more.

Once you submit your transaction to the Ethereum blockchain you will need to wait sometime depending on your gas fee price and the congestion of the network — you will see a Pending indicator during this time. Once your transaction is complete you can view exactly how much was transacted on the Etherscan block explorer.

And now you have bought your first WZEC! Congratulations!

WZEC is made possible in partnership with, Tokensoft, and Anchorage.
