Mez’i’s Mayhem marks the debut of Wreck League’s gaming events, providing mech owners an exclusive chance to immerse themselves in real-time PvP combat. Spanning two weeks from September 14 to September 28, this leaderboard experience offers scheduled access to online battle with other players. This means PvP won’t be available at all times. Instead, “active windows” of 90 minutes each are scheduled throughout each day, offering players the needed downtime to practice with their mechs and theorycraft based on what they’re experiencing.

Event Structure

During Mez’i’s Mayhem’s two-week tournament period, competitive matches against live opponents are limited to three specific 90-minute time slots shown below. While you can freely engage in practice mode with your mech at any time, competing for points against other owners is confined to these designated time windows. This approach was put in place to avoid situations where players struggle to find suitable opponents for matchmaking at odd hours. Given the relatively small number of Mech NFTs available and the corresponding player base, without these scheduled time windows, the matchmaking pool would become diluted.

We’ve thoughtfully organized three distinct time slots to accommodate participants across various global time zones, and we may make adjustments or add time slots as we monitor the matchmaking pools to better serve our competitors across the globe. It is important to note that participating in every time window does not necessarily mean you will accumulate more points. In our system, players earn one point for a victory, and lose one point for a defeat. As players progress up the points ladder, they will be faced with tougher opponents. This is because our matchmaking system prioritizes pairing you with players who have similar point totals. If you happen to experience a losing streak, you will eventually encounter easier opponents until you start winning again. If you go on a winning streak your opponent will get tougher and tougher until you start losing. This means that there will be an equilibrium in the points ladder for every player based on the player’s skill level and the quality of the mech. Majority of the players will reach a certain point in the points ladder where they are at a 50:50 win / loss ratio.

To break through this equilibrium and get to a higher equilibrium, the key isn’t to just do more matches, but rather to enhance your mech and or enhance your skill with the mech. Acquiring a superior mech can lead to winning streaks until you attain a higher equilibrium. Improving your skill with the mech can also increase your equilibrium. The most effective method for skill improvement, similar to many fighting games, is to devote time to the practice mode. There, you can repeatedly practice specific combos and maneuvers against an AI opponent that continuously regenerates health. However, unlike traditional fighters, MOBAs or shooters, Wreck League is not a game that relies purely on skill. Much like games such as Clash Royale, where your deck and card levels matter, the composition and leveling of your Mech are crucial factors. Relying solely on skill improvement will inevitably lead to a ceiling that will land you at a certain equilibrium with 50% win rate. To break through this barrier, you must strive to enhance both your mech and your skill in operating it.

Game Event: Mez’i’s Mayhem

Start: September 14th at 11AM PT

Finish: September 28th at 8:30PM PT

Structure: The leaderboard event will be scored with daily time-gated windows lasting 90 minutes, where you’ll score points to battle other players online. Leaderboard points will only be awarded during these times every day:

  • Window 1: 3:00 AM — 4:30 AM PT daily
  • Window 2: 11:00 AM — 12:30 PM PT daily
  • Window 3: 7:00 PM — 8:30 PM PT daily

Points: You’ll earn a point for every match you win, and you’ll lose a point for every loss (though you’ll never go below zero).

Ranking: Determined by points earned in PvP matches. The more points you earn, the higher you climb on the leaderboard.

Matchmaking: Based on your points (proxy for ELO), so you’ll tend to match against players that have scores close to your own.

Rewards: On-chain rewards will be distributed based on player performance. See the rewards below for the full list.

How To Participate:

Starting on September 14th at 6AM PT, you will be able to download and install the Wreck League launcher and play with your mechs in practice mode to get ready for the Mez’i’s Mayhem Tournament.

  1. Build at least one mech in the Wreck League Garage. Or, buy a mech from a marketplace.
  2. Download the Wreck League game client from the Wreck League website.
  3. Install the Wreck League game app on PC, Mac, or Android. You’ll be prompted to create or log in to an nWayPlay account within the game client, and to connect your wallet.
  4. Fight in matches during the designated times and earn points to climb the leaderboard.

Leaderboard System

The Mez’i’s Mayhem, leaderboard tournament culminates in the crowning of an ultimate victor, as it ranks participants based on their PvP performances. Each win earns you a point, while each loss deducts a point from your total score. Your cumulative points acquired will determine your position on the leaderboard. To ensure fair and balanced battles, matchmaking pairs you with players who have scores close to your own.

At the end of the event, the leaderboard will contain the global ranking of players based on their points. Placement on the leaderboard corresponds to on-chain rewards that players will receive upon the end of the contest.

  • Regions: All; this is a global competition.
  • Player Count: Everyone who owns at least one mech is eligible to play.
  • Ranking Criteria: Points are earned by winning online PvP matches against other players.

Check your placement at any time through the in-game Leaderboard in the main hub of the game client, or on the Wreck League website.

Rewards

At the end of Mez’i’s Mayhem, on-chain rewards will be awarded based on players’ performance in the tournament. Players will have the opportunity to win Mech parts, Boxes, full mech sets, and even the coveted and exclusive Iconic Holospec.

Note: Rewards are only awarded at the end of the tournament, based on cumulative scores from the entire event; no rewards are earned for completing individual matches.

  • Iconic Holospecs: Finish in the top 3 to earn these exclusive, mysterious rewards. Hint: Holospecs allow their holders to build something very, very special. These exclusive and rare NFTs will unlock the Arena NFTs at a future date. They will have slight variations in designs. The Arena NFTs allow the holders to host their own custom buy-in tournaments. The owner can generate revenue by taking a % of the pool from the participants’ buy-in fees.
  • Mech Sets: A full mech set from a random Constructor and Weapon type, which includes Epic Sets, Legendary Sets, and complete Yuga Sets, depending on your leaderboard placement. A mech set is a mech assembled with parts that make up a themed collection (spanning across the Constructor, Weapon, and Rarity). There are a total of 52 Sets including 2 Yuga Sets. There is a set per Weapon / Rarity for each Constructor. Excluding the 2 Yuga Sets there are 5 Weapons x 5 Rarities x 2 Constructors which equal 50 Mech sets. These are 52 thematically inspired sets (out of the 62 billion possible combinations from mint 1) that have a visually coherent look. Additionally the parts in a set are designed by our expert game designers to synergize effectively in terms of skills and stats. Unlike the Founders Mechs, these Mech Sets can be disassembled back into parts. It will be very difficult to assemble these together by chasing each part individually. Assembling and owning Mechs that are Sets will provide various perks and boosts in the future, making them highly valuable acquisitions.
  • Majestic Boxes: Get a Majestic box containing 10 pieces required to mint another mech and increase your collection! Higher leaderboard placements will be awarded better quality boxes, ranging from rare Majestic Boxes to legendary Majestic Boxes.
  • Booster Boxes: Get a Booster box containing 5 mech parts. Higher leaderboard placements will be awarded better-quality boxes, ranging from common Booster boxes to legendary Booster boxes.
  • Mech Parts: Get a single, random mech part, ranging from common to rare based on final leaderboard placement.

The Wreck League launcher will be downloadable for PC, Mac, and android starting September 14th at 6AM PT from the official Wreck League Website. At this time, you will be able to open your boxes, construct your mech, and play the practice mode. But note the times below for when the tournament scoring starts.

Wreck League Game Events & Tournaments

In the world of Wreck League, the journey is all about the mechs you create and the battles you engage in. The quality of your mech and your skills in battle will determine your success in game events and tournaments. There’s a diverse array of competitions planned for this year and beyond, offering something for everyone. Below, we will provide a glimpse into the forthcoming and ongoing events, along with an outline of the overarching structure for the Wreck League’s tournaments and events.

  • Leaderboard Tournaments: Our most straightforward competition, accessible to everyone who owns at least one mech. Participants will accumulate points for victories and lose some for defeats, with their rankings displayed on a global leaderboard. Leaderboard tournaments last two weeks; at the end of the period the leaderboard freezes. On-chain prizes await participants of all levels, from first place all the way down to the very end, so everyone who participates will be eligible for rewards.
  • Sponsor Tournaments: Winners of these bracket tournaments earn tokens as prizes. The prize pool is generally funded by nWay and/or sponsors, and there’s no entry fee required to play. Participation in sponsor tournaments is by invitation only, with top leaderboard players and other exceptional talent receiving exclusive invitations.
  • Buy-In Tournaments: These tournaments, hosted by nWay, will require an entrance fee in tokens (i.e., APE$, ETH) for players who wish to participate. The majority of the entry fees will fund a prize pool awarded to the tournament winners. Expect to see many types of these tournaments, with differing entrance fees and mech requirements to participate.
  • User-Hosted Tournaments: These tournaments with entrance fees are hosted and owned by individuals in our community. In Wreck League, arena NFTs enable users to own upgradable and customizable arenas in which they can host tournaments. While the majority of the entry fees contribute to the prize pool, a portion goes to the arena owner, allowing owners to generate revenue. Entry fees and mech requirements to participate will vary based on the specific arena type.
  • High-Stakes Competitions: For the boldest and most skilled players, these game events pit the best mechs against each other, with serious collateral on the line: Participants stake their mech prior to the match for the chance to emerge the winner and claim the opponent’s mech. The defeated mech, when claimed by the winner, is in a destroyed state, and the victor can either keep the loser’s mech and repair it by burning in parts and materials, or they can burn the destroyed mech and salvage some parts and upgrade materials from it for use on other mechs.
  • User-Hosted High-Stakes Events: Empowering our community further, a special type of arena NFTs enable owners to create a private, invite-only high-stakes competition for friends and certain members of the Wreck League community.
  • High-Stakes Custom Events: We’re raising the stakes even higher with these custom events. Produced and hosted by nWay, these events bring together some of the best players and their mechs by invitation only, and pit them against each other. Expect extensive marketing and promotion for these epic matches that will attract a larger audience.

Our tournament and event structure is designed in waves that kick off the release of new builds and content. We start with a basic leaderboard tournament, coinciding with the release of new content and builds, followed by various tournaments and game events. For example, September 14 marks the release of content from our Genesis Mint via the Majestic and Booster boxes opening, and the launch of the first Web3 game build. We kick off the leaderboard tournament, Mez’i’s Mayhem, at the same time. Following the leaderboard competition, we’ll roll out other tournaments, including exclusive sponsor tournaments. Players who do well in the leaderboard tournament are likely to get invited to these subsequent exclusive tournaments.

As we unveil new content and builds, such as those that follow mint 2 and mint 3, we will follow a similar pattern: we’ll hold a leaderboard tournament for all mech owners, then introduce sponsor events and other types of tournaments, including high-stakes competitions. Exceptional performers in these events will earn invitations to the Wreck League World Final, culminating Season1. We’ll share more information soon on the Wreck League World Final and how to qualify for it.

Tournaments and competition are at the core of the Wreck League experience. We are so excited for holders to jump in and compete for amazing prizes. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming game launch and tournament on the Official Wreck League Website, X (formerly Twitter), and Discord.
