News publication generally refers to the report of what is happening in current society to the general public. The public relies on the news published to know what is happening near them in a given period and build up their interpretation of the world. In the current society, there are more than thousands of news media around the globe, and people receive a large amount of news every day. However, it’s the media’s chance to decide which event to report and how to report it. So individuals’ views of the world will vary due to the difference in the news media in the region or country one belongs to. As globalization becomes a prominent social trend, this effect of the difference in news publications is pushed to the center of discussion.

Currently, news publication is mainly undertaken by the local media of certain areas or major media of different countries. People in the U.S.A. tend to watch the news from American media like CNN and Fox News, while for British people, it’s BBC, and People.cn in China. One major benefit of publishing news differently among different countries is the building of national dignity. By producing news that follows the underlying value of the country, the government can “manipulate” the mindset of their citizen and develop a sense of patriotism in people. In this way, during the process of policy enforcement and country construction, people will tend to treat the country’s benefits higher than their own and try to follow the guidelines of governments. But it can’t be denied that over-propaganda on the news media will cause a polarization of social value, which leads to a blindly following of government command and turn to idolatry.

If the new publication is considered on a global scale instead, people can access news from all media around the globe and treat the news as a whole. Following this practice, people can view more aspects of other cultures but not limited to what is provided by media from their own country. They will generate a more objective view toward their society and different cultural groups around the world value, which is effective for reducing racism and prejudices toward refugees. Social problems of certain countries due to polarization can also be gradually fixed by viewing a wide variety of information and at a more globalized value. Correspondingly, a wide view of information will reduce individuals’ worship of their own country and weaken the nation’s spirit.

The spread and comprehension of information are one of the most important ways to build up the social value of citizens of countries and the world. The conflict between the way information publication is perceived should be a social issue that needs further consideration.
